Thank You, Corvallis

For six days, City workers walked the picket line, and Corvallis walked with us. Local businesses fed us, gave us a place to rest and celebrate, and put their support in their windows. Before we get back to work, we want to say thank you.

A special thank-you to Kourtni and Jonathan Rader

Kourtni and Jonathan Rader of Seoul Sisters Boutique and Sew Sisters Fabric Shoppe walked our "Proud to Support City of Corvallis Workers" posters door to door downtown and helped bring more than 20 businesses on board. When City workers needed our neighbors to speak up, they made sure downtown did. Thank you, Kourtni and Jonathan.

Thank you, local businesses

  • Common Fields (545 SW 3rd St.) gave a free drink to every striking City worker and hosted members the night we reached our tentative agreement.
  • Odd Bird offered discounts to striking City workers.
  • Everbowl brought fruit bowls to the picket line, more than once. Read more
  • McHenry Funeral Home let picketers park in its lot.
  • The more than 20 downtown businesses that put "Proud to Support City of Corvallis Workers" posters in their windows. See who stood with us

These are our neighbors, and they showed up when it counted. Please stop in, say thanks, and shop local.

And thank you to everyone who stood with us

To the residents who honked, waved, joined the line and wrote to City Council; to the retirees who walked with us; to State Senators James Manning and Sara Gelser Blouin, Oregon Labor Federation President Graham Trainor and AFSCME International President Patrick Moran; and to our union siblings from Albany, Benton County, Polk County, Portland, Salem and OSU, including the locals that gave to our Hardship Fund: thank you. We won a contract because we didn't stand alone.
